Old Friends, Good Times

Saw my old highschool friend down in Florida. He was kind enough to crash at his place on my trip down there. My flight home got delayed due to snow and I had to overstay... He was very nice about it.

You know, there is really no substitute for catching up with old friends. I hadn't seen him in many many years and had only kept in touch on the phone or email. I think it isneat so cool to get to step back into someone's life and see a snapshot of who they are now and where there life has taken them.

Even though we had kept in touch on and off over the years, I got to learn more about him. It always suprises me what roads people go down. This particular friend of mine, we spent one evening in Florida having dinner together while his son went to football practice. During that time, I got to hear first hand about his experiences in the war, getting wounded, waking up in Germany, and coming home. It was interesting and eye opening (to really hear from someone who had experienced the war).

He reads my blog, so I know he will see this and I just want to give a shout out to him and say thanks for letting me stay.. And also would like to say thanks for serving our country. It doesn't matter if I agree with the war or not, it only matters that I want our guys to come home safe.
