Last Glasses

Me, Landon, Marsha

This is the last picture of me with GLASSES… hello Lasik! I decided to have eye surgery and never have to wear glasses or contacts again. I went in to the place and filled out the forms. I was on the “operating” table for no more than 15 minutes and when I stood up I could see!!! It was painless and completely worth it. Why didn’t I do this years ago?? STOKED.

Also noticed how we were all so nicely color coordinated in the picture.

My Real Birthday

Shots, originally uploaded by quimerizar.

So, after two pseudo birthday parties (not really on my birthday, but parties nonetheless) my real birthday actually came around. I had a great day. At work, my team brought in brownies and tiramisu cake. I got cards from my team in New York, cards from the team in Salt Lake. One of the guys from the Salt Lake team even brought me flowers (awwww, thanks Sumner). Some of my co-workers and friends came out to the Port O’Call in Salt Lake City to help me celebrate. It started off with a few shots of a few things. We played a lot of pool, not so well after those drinks. Had a great time and just want to shout out to all my friends that were there. I love you guys!

Red Iguana

Red Iguana, originally uploaded by quimerizar.

Quite an ironic day today. Marsha is in Salt Lake to help train the team here with me. Our friend Amee had strangely flown in to Salt Lake to visit family at the same time. And, the family she had here were people I had met in New York. So, we all got together and went out to the Red Iguana for dinner. It was such a nice time and very surreal to see all these people that I have known from New York in Salt Lake City.

Wolf Creek - Eden Utah

My good friends Marsh and Dorianne were in Salt Lake City for work and one of my best friends in the whole wide world Corie was in town too for her Birthday. She and her husband have a condo in Wolf Creek and she wanted to have a Birthday weekend there for the two of us because our bdays are only a few days apart.

I was excited to go and see her, and to take my friends from NY up into the mountains. When we got there, I got to see our mutual friend Sharlotte and meet her boyfriend. He had already had a few beverages before we got there. We had literally been there for about 10 minutes when we started egging him on to go jump in a pond behind the condo. It wasn't THAT warm! We double dared him...then triple dared him.. and then the gauntlet was thrown down. A triple dog dare. With much yelling by the rest of us (Shar, Cors, Chris, Me, Marsh, and Dorianne) we watched him jump into the man made pond and laughed our asses off. See video.

We all had a really super time. We got toasted, listened to 80's music all night (can I get a little hell yeah for some Poison and Guns and Roses). We sang Karoke, played Mad Gab, and ate Cake. It was a damn good night. Happy Birthday Cors... you are one hot mama and I love ya girl.

I made Marsha stop and get a picture by this sign because we thought it was hilarious.

Eric and Me - Happy Bdays

Eric and Me - Happy Bdays, originally uploaded by quimerizar.

Happy Birthday to Me and Eric
So, my dad had a party at his clubhouse for me today. I didn’t realize it was going to be a birthday party for me! It was also my dad’s friend Eric’s birthday too.

I got there and my dad’s friends had brought me a bottle of Stoli and Cranberry. YUM! We drank, played poker, and ate cake , and just had a pretty damn good time. Thanks dad!

Flower Pen

Flower Pen, originally uploaded by quimerizar.

The social security administration offices, along with driver’s license bureaus and any other public department that requires long lines is always an interesting place to watch people I think. Today I had to run by the SS office to get my name changed on my social security card for my passport. I had a pretty good laugh at this one. There was a man sitting in the front row waiting. He looked pretty buff, and pretty tough too. Goatee, shaved head, kinda mean looking but not bad, about 40 years old. So they call his number. The office had three windows and a chair in front of each one. There was no privacy and you could hear everything that the people were telling the SS employees. So, this guy sits down and spreads out a whole bunch of papers on the desk. He proceeds to ask how he can get a social security card. The guy behind the desk asks him if he has ever had one before, and the man replies yes, but that he has just gotten out of prison and needs a new one. The guy behind the desk hands him some forms and then hands the guy this pen that has a HUGE bunch of flowers taped to it. I was trying so hard not to laugh my ass off. Here is this tough guy, straight out of prison, filling out forms with a gigantic flower pen. I tried to get my camera phone out to get a picture but he was too fast. So, I only got a picture of the pen. Still hilarious though.

Talking Hands

Talking Hands - 6, originally uploaded by quimerizar.

These are the faces of happy and full people at a very nice restaurant in Salt Lake City. Me and two co-workers went to a nice and expensive steakhouse in Salt Lake to have dinner. After a few glasses of wine, I wanted to get a picture of the three of us. One of the girls (who we will call MELISSA because that is her name) didn’t want to have her picture taken because she knew it would end up on the internet. (Wow, she knows me well). So, she said I could get a picture with her hand. At that point, we flagged down the waiter and got a Sharpie marker (which, I will point out takes a long time to wash off over a few days). We decided to draw people on all of our hands and take a picture. Melissa is the man on the left drinking the coke, Pasquel is the kitty cat eating a piece of Filet Mignon, and I am the lady with too much makeup eating the asparagus.
Can I just say…week four of dining out regularly. My ass is hardly fitting into my pants.

My Injury

My Injury - 5, originally uploaded by quimerizar.

Today I sprained my ankle and chipped my bone. How is it that I manage this kind of crap??? I literally fell down TWO stairs, wearing tennis shoes. I was on my way into work with my colleague, Melissa. I had a pomegranate jamba juice in one hand, a starbucks in the other. Apparently I cannot walk, talk and hold things at the same time. BAM.. next thing I know I’m on the ground moaning like a baby. Pomegranate jamba juice ALL OVER the place (including my expense report for work, nice), coffee everywhere. I had to go to the hospital. Just call me gimpy. Bye bye nice heels at work and hello looking stupid with tennis shoes and nice panty hose.

Old Friends

Redwood II BBQ 009, originally uploaded by quimerizar.

Today my old neighbors Traci and Jeremy were so sweet and had a BBQ get together since I was back in town. All of my old neighbors were there. We had food and fun, a big bonfire in the back yard. It was like old times when I used to live there. I guess you know who your true friends are when you can just pick up right where you left off. I feel like I have been away for so long, but they make it feel like it was yesterday and welcome you right back. That is one of the things that makes Utah so special to me. When I lived here, my neighborhood and family were my life. I spent my extra time with them and we were all so close and such good friends. I have great friends in New Jersey too, but it is somehow different. The friends in Utah are families who always kind of invited me in to a glimpse of their lives. My friends in Jersey are different because they are mostly single and it is not a glimpse into the life, it is more like participation together. Hard to explain if that means anything. I don’t think one is better than the other but I do feel lucky to have had both.

So Close

So Close - 2, originally uploaded by quimerizar.

One of the best things about being in Utah is that I get to do things I normally can’t really do in New Jersey. I got to go golfing today. I hadn’t been since the work tournament last year, so it was really nice. I didn’t do horribly playing, but I didn’t do that great either!! I played with my dad and my friend Gregg. My friend Cindy also came along, but she acted soley as driver! This pic is completely set up.. a shot of me trying to blow the ball into the hole. This happened MANY times (although I didn’t really get down and try to blow it in the hole each time).

Poker With Dad

Salt Lake City 2007 016, originally uploaded by quimerizar.

Tonight we went to my dad’s friend’s house in Herriman, Utah. Don’t ask. We all had several beverages and then got a little crazy with the poker chips. At one point I was winning… but then I think my luck ran out. Oh well.
